Hello Friend,

I hope you are ready to get your laugh on because the focus for this issue of Metaphysical Mind will be on the spiritual practice of laughter. It is my hope that you will integrate laughter into your daily spiritual routine. This issue will be organized as follows:

2. Laughter as a Powerful Spiritual Practice
3. Spiritual Joke: Jesus Was…

1. Quotes to Live By

“At the height of laughter, the universe is flung into a kaleidoscope of new possibilities.”
— Jean Houston

“A good, real, unrestrained, hearty laugh is a sort of glorified internal massage, performed rapidly and automatically. It manipulates and revitalizes corners and unexplored crannies of the system that are unresponsive to most other exercise methods.”
— Author unknown, from an editorial in New York Tribune, quoted in Quotations for Special Occasions by Maud van Buren

“Carry laughter with you wherever you go.”
— Hugh Sidney

2. Laughter as a Powerful Spiritual Practice by Jason Randhawa

Laughter is an integral part of the universal human vocabulary, as every single human being understands it. Regardless of the language spoken, everyone laughs. We don’t even learn to laugh as we must for speaking;we are already born with the innate ability to laugh.

One of the important things about laughter is that it occurs unconsciously. This is why it is difficult to fake laughter or laugh on command. There is a good chance that laughter is part of our survival mechanism. Just like other survival systems that are constantly occurring unconsciously like breathing or digesting.

Laughter is an excellent way of cleansing the body, and ridding it of stress. When you are laughing it is tough to be simultaneously feeling bad. After a bout of uncontrollable laughter you are left feeling relaxed and very much at peace. Not to mention all of the good feelings that come your way.

This is important as well, since when working with the Law of Attraction you want to have good feelings. When you have good feelings you know that you are in alignment with what you are wanting. By feeling good, you are helping to consciously manifest your desires.

Many of the most spiritual people I know, including many of the sages that I have studied, have a very strong sense of humor. They seem to be laughing a lot more than the average person. I feel that this is not only for the good feelings but also because these people take life less seriously.

Notice this next time you study, or are in the presence of, a master. We all need to take life less seriously. Reality and our lives are not as important or real as we are led to believe. For information on reality, you should read another interesting article I wrote titled The Brain – Where Reality Emerges?? Greet every incident and encounter with the belief that reality is not solid and life is not a serious affair, and you will not be able to hold back the laughter.

“Humour was the only means of counteracting the compulsion of human awareness to take inventories and to make cumbersome classification.” – Carlos Castaneda, The Fire From Within

I encourage you to work in laughter as a powerful spiritual practice into your daily metaphysical routine. This could be anything from watching a hilarious movie to exchanging jokes with your best friend. It is important that you laugh out loud and lose yourself in the laughter. A good bout of uncontrollable laughter will leave you feeling relaxed and at ease with life, which is just as you should be. Enjoy this powerful spiritual practice that has been with you since you were born.

3. Spiritual Joke: Jesus Was…

Jesus was…

Recently, at a theological meeting in Rome, scholars had a heated debate on the subject of the ethnicity and nationality of Jesus. One by one they offered their evidence –

Jesus was Mexican –

  1. His name was Jesus
  2. He was bilingual
  3. He was always being harassed by the authorities

But then there were equally good arguments that…

Jesus was black –

  1. He called everyone “brother”
  2. He liked Gospel
  3. He couldn’t get a fair trial

But then there were equally good arguments that…

Jesus was Jewish –

  1. He went into his father’s business
  2. He lived at home until he was 33
  3. He was sure his mother was a virgin, and his mother was sure he was God

But then there were equally good arguments that…

Jesus was Italian –

  1. He talked with his hands
  2. He had wine with every meal
  3. He used olive oil

But then there were equally good arguments that…

Jesus was Californian –

  1. He never cut his hair
  2. He walked around barefoot
  3. He started a new religion

But then there were equally good arguments that…

Jesus was Irish –

  1. He never got married
  2. He was always telling stories
  3. He loved green pastures

But perhaps the most compelling evidence…

Jesus was a woman –

  1. She fed a crowd at a moment’s notice
  2. Men didn’t understand her
  3. Even when dead, she arose to complete her work

Life was never meant to be taken seriously. Enjoy your time laughing at the Cosmic Joke that is life…
